Gita Wisdom connects Krishna’s teachings in the sacred Bhagavad Gita to the world around us. The High Line—a public park built on a historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side—represents an innovative transformation of an urban landscape from derelict to inspiring.
There is a connection to be made between this kind of creative recycling and the ability to perceive purpose and Divinity beneath the rubble of consumer culture. The High Line also reminds us of the Gita’s call to transform what appears useless in the material world into something supremely useful, as an expression of devotion. The tour will be led by a High Line docent. Come explore the background to this rejuvenated period of New York City history and discover connections between urban living and progressive Bhakti thought.
